In 2026, the XTERRA Trail Run World Championship moves to the heart of the Mediterranean, with the island of Gozo in Malta hosting the 17th edition on May 9. Set across limestone cliffs, coastal trails, and ancient valleys, the two championship courses trace the perimeter of an island shaped by wind, sea, and 7,000 years of human history. Athletes participating in Gold and Silver tiered races earn TRWS points. These points are awarded based on a variety of factors, and reward both performance and participation. This allows athletes to compete against fellow trail runners around the world, and see where they rank in their age group throughout the season.
