Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan is a UNESCO World Heritage site that lies deep in the heart of China. The surreal landscape is marked by over 3000 towering moss-covered sandstone pillars that emerge from the lush forest below, where traces of ancient history and culture lie hidden on trails that have slowly been swallowed by the jungle itself. This is not merely a trail run, it’s an adventure through time and one of China's most iconic natural wonders.

Both Zhangjiajie HeHua International Airport and Zhangjiajie West Railway Station are situated approximately 30km from Wulingyaun District, and participants may travel the remaining distance by car in around 35 minutes.
Yes, both the Marathon and Half-marathon distances are qualifiers for the Trail Run World Championship in Sugarloaf, Maine.
COURSE OVERVIEW
Location: Zhangjiajie, Wulingyuan, China
Terrain: Diverse mix of lush jungle, towering sandstone pillars, suspended sky bridges, and hidden valleys.
Elevation Gain: Marathon - total ascent of 2400m+; Half-Marathon total ascent of 1400m+
Trail Type: Singletrack trails, rocky paths, wooden walkways, and natural staircases.

Prepare Your Gear
For those doing the full and half marathon, we provide a list of essential and recommended equipment and items you can prepare for the race. While the following gear will not be checked pre-race, and time penalties will not be given for missing items, we strongly recommend you bring the listed essential equipment for your own safety when running on the mountain. Additional safety measures will also be in place.
The Essentials
Make sure you bring the following for the race:
Running Pack - you will need this to carry your essential equipment.
Smartphone - carry for communication and safety, but set to airplane mode during the race.
Refillable water flask, with a suggested minimum capacity of 500ml.
Water supply - aid stations will have water, but you are recommended to carry your own as well for safety.
Survival blanket - for emergency situations
Emergency whistle
Jacket with hood - in case of extreme weather on the mountain
Suggested Extras
Be prepared for the weather and elements by preparing the following:
External battery or power bank for your phone.
Cap or bandana to shield yourself from the elements.
Food reserve - selected aid stations for the full and half marathons will have food, but it is suggested to plan your own food reserves, such as gels and power bars.
Extra layer for cold weather.
Consider additional items like Vaseline or anti-heating cream, a reusable cup, and a GPS watch to enhance your race experience.
