Rocky Gap State Park (map)
Escape the summer city heat and head for the mountains! Join us at Rocky Gap State Park in Flintstone, MD for the 20th Annual XTERRA EX2 Off-Road Triathlon and Duathlon.
Without the support of enthusiastic and caring volunteers, producing our races would not be possible. Volunteers of all ages and abilities help with check-in, racer transition areas, aid stations, course marshalling, timing, post-race food, and sweeping/demarking the course. Volunteering is a fun way to experience our races, play in the outdoors, and spend time with friendly people.
All volunteers receive a free race t-shirt, free food, a discount coupon code good for $15 off a future EX2 race or EX2 merchandise, and our sincere thanks.
To sign-up to volunteer, please visit https://www.ex2adventures.com/about-ex2/volunteer/.

The water temperature of Lake Habeeb in mid-July is normally around 80 degrees. Water temperature will be measured the day before the race and race morning. All athletes will be notified whether or not wetsuits are allowed under USAT rules.
Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wetsuit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wetsuit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wetsuit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Age group participants shall not wear wetsuits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit. The wetsuit policy for elite athletes shall be determined by the USAT Athletes Advisory Council. The AAC has set the wetsuit maximum temperature for elite athletes at 68 degrees for swim distances less than 3000 meters and 71.6 degrees for distances of 3000 meters or greater. Any swimmer wearing a wetsuit with a thickness measured in any part greater than 5 millimeters shall be disqualified.
Each duathlon and triathlon relay team may be comprised of two or three racers. Each athlete on relay teams must complete at least one FULL segment of the race, either the .75 mile swim (Tri)/3 mile run (Du), 13 mile bike, or the 5 mile run. Racers will ‘tag’ each other at the bike rack where their bike is placed. For two person teams, one racer will have to complete two FULL segments and the other racer will only complete one segment.
