You haven’t made the jump to mountain biking but you love to ride gravel roads and dirt trails without technical passage on a Gravel Bike or Cyclo-Cross type bike, hybrid, fat bike (no road bike or time trial), then the MIXTERRA is for you. We therefore accept all types of bikes suitable for this event. It is important to mention that the race portion is worthy of the most beautiful trail races, lots of singletrack, rocks and roots, steep climbs and descents.*MIXTERRAThe MIXTERRA format is a brand new formula.The MIXTERRA bike course is different from the standard and consists of gravel roads. Several types of bikes are allowed for the MIXTERRA: mountain bike, cyclocross, gravel, hybrid, fat bike (no road bike or time trial).Cyclocross and gravel bikes are advantageous on this course. The race course is the same as for the standard.
XTERRA Quebec Series races are endorsed by Triathlon Quebec. The Federation rules are therefore those that will apply during your race. Here is a summary (not exclusive) of these regulations:
Isothermal wetsuit not permitted above 22 degrees Celsius
Mandatory wetsuit below 14 degrees Celsuis
Civilized conduct during the swimming portion
No outside assistance is allowed during the swimming portion
No help improving propulsion is allowed (fins, etc.)
A swimmer can stay stationary (treading water), or swim with the style of his choice
A swimmer has the right to grab an official’s boat in the event of a problem, as long as this help does not propel the swimmer forward
No mounting on the bike in the transition zones (mounting and descending must be done outside the transition zone
Wearing a bicycle helmet is mandatory at all times during the bike portion. The helmet must be buckled before taking your bike on the bicycle rack, and must remain locked until the bike is replaced on the bicycle rack
No outside assistance is allowed during the bike portion
The rules of good behavior are in order
Contrary to the Triathlon Québec rules for road triathlon, drafting is allowed during XTERRA events
The bike course is a moderately technical course consisting mostly of single tracks. The course will be composed of fast sections, but also of slower. So that everyone can fully enjoy the race and enjoy a great experience, please respect the following basic rules:
Overtaking must be done in a civilized way: in general the slower bikers keep their right (when possible) and the overtaking is done on the left
Before overtaking, please clearly indicate your intentions to the rider before you (for example by indicating your intention to pass, when possible: “I go to the left” or “when possible I go to the left”). In this way the slower rider can predict the place where he gives way to the fastest
A rider on his bike in a technical section or single track must give way to the fastest only when possible. No rider has the obligation to stop riding or risk an accident to let a faster biker pass
Faster riders must be vigilant and use common sense when overtaking. The safety and pleasure of everyone are at stake!
Only mountain bikes in good conditions are accepted on the course. No other type of bike (cyclocross, hybrid with handlebars, etc.) is accepted. Handlebars end cap must be sealed. A rider presenting himself on the day of the race with a bike that is not in order may be refused participating in the event. In case of doubt, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
No outside assistance is allowed during the bike portion. However, a participant taking part in the same event has the opportunity to assist another participant (for example by helping to make a repair, lending equipment, etc.). All participants must finish the bike course with their bike under penalty of disqualification. A participant has the right to finish the bike course next to his bike (for example because of a break), but must always wear his helmet. Failure to comply with these rules may result in a penalty or disqualification.
Refueling is forbidden on the course outside the zones identified for this purpose. It’s the responsibility of the participants to respect this rule. In any case, and especially for the bike portion, when you wish to refuel, please keep the right when approaching the refueling areas and indicate your intention to stop or slow down. In cases where there are many riders at the refueling area, it is strongly advised to stop in order to avoid any unfortunate incident. The time lost by an incident will be quickly offset by a few seconds or minutes to refuel.

The time limits are indicated on the page of each event.
a. Cross Triathlon consists of swimming, mountain biking (MTB) and cross-country running;
b. Cross Duathlon consists of cross-country running, mountain biking (MTB) and cross-country running.

19.3. Official Training and Familiarisation
a. Official training and familiarisation sessions will be conducted by the Technical Delegate and the Local Organising Committee. Athletes and coaches may attend these official training and familiarisation sessions;
b. Conduct on competition days: Athletes are not allowed to warm up or do any course familiarisation while a competition is in progress.
19.4. Mountain Biking Conduct
a. The maximum tyre diameter for the MTB is 29 inches. The minimum cross
section is 1.5 inch;
b. Front and rear wheels may have different diameter;
c. Studded and/or slick tyres are allowed;
d. Athletes are allowed to push or carry the bike over the course;
e. Drafting is allowed. For safety reasons there may be no passing zones on the course. it may be forbidden to pass other athletes before entering the transition area. Lapped athletes will not be removed from the competition;
f. Traditional road handlebars are forbidden;
g. Traditional MTB bar ends are authorised. Ends must be plugged.
19.5. Running Conduct
a. Spike shoes are allowed.
19.6. Coaches Stations
a. Coaches will have a designated space available on the bike and run segments in order to supply athletes with their own food and beverages.
