About Stay Connected With Updates

A coast-hugging, 50km/21km/11km trail-running event that circumvents the island of Gozo, a jewel in the Mediterranean and sister island of Malta. One of the most beautiful venues for a race is in springtime, in the Mediterranean, and the island of Gozo is the perfect mix of beach, cliff-edge, lush valleys, and small villages.
The race cut-off times are relaxed to encourage beginners to take part, and those wishing to enjoy the trail, rather than race it. The 21km trail is run over the last part of the course, finishing in Ghajnsielem. Those running the Gozo route for the first time, can opt for the 11K distance which was added this year.
The 50k Ultra Distance is recognized for 2 ITRA points and a qualifier for international trail races.
This event is organized by Hellfire Events, the same organizers of XTERRA Malta, and is fast becoming an international attraction for the Island of Gozo, with over 20 countries participating. Whilst the field is small, the organization is top-notch, with volunteers manning rest & food stops along the route and full mobile Accident & Emergency crew throughout the race.

Volunteers
The XTERRA Malta race experience is enhanced by our amazing team of volunteers, most of whom are athletes themselves, are closely related to one or who simply love sport! Our volunteers love being part of a community and making the athlete experience an amazing one by cheering them along the way, ensuring they take the right direction and keeping them hydrated and safe! Our volunteers also get a free race entry to a next XTERRA Malta event so we are constantly looking out for Sunshine Stars to join the team! If you’re interested reach out to us. :)
