The last of the 7 World Cup stops and the last of the World Championships to be held in Italy, the sheer weight of this race makes the towering presence of the Brenta Dolomites a fitting one. This is the make or break point of the series and the season, where champions are crowned, and legacies are made.

The Trilogy

2024 will be the third and final World Championship to be held in Trentino, Italy, and once again serve as the last stop of the XTERRA World Cup. The 43.5K race through the cold waters of Lake Molveno and the demanding trails of the Brenta Dolomites has consistently delivered on the XTERRA promise of mud, sweat, and tears, and produced some of the biggest moments in XTERRA history.

Arthur Serrières and Solenne Billouin are both 2 for 2 on this course, having claimed the first World Championship to not be held in Maui when the event moved to Europe for the first time in 2022, and then went on to defend their titles in 2023.

A win for Serrières could cement the legacy he’s built while a win for Billouin would put her well on the way to hers, but what that means for their World Cup campaigns would be entirely dependent on what they achieved in the first 6 stops. In 2023, Serrières became the first ever double champ when he claimed both the World Cup and World Championship titles in the final race of the series and season. Billouin’s win, however, was enough to claim the World Championship title, but not enough to take the World Cup honours from the consistently dominant Alizée Paties.

The double-feature event means big shifts in the leaderboard can happen, and with the ST race scheduled a full 2 days ahead of the FD race, expect every athlete on the starting line to give it their absolute all as the curtains close on the Italian trilogy, the 2024 season, and the XTERRA World Cup.
