Want to be a stronger swimmer? Looking for techniques to help you train smarter and become more efficient in the pool? Masters swimming is the answer. XTERRA professional athlete Will Kelsay breaks down masters swimming for triathlon training.
What is Masters swimming?
Before you do your first triathlon, it's important to get comfortable swimming with a group of people and mastering your technique. Masters swimming classes are low key and allow you to do this in the comfort of a pool with access to a coach.

What will I learn in a Masters swimming class?
In addition to learning how to swim with a lot of people, you can practice sitting on someone's feet, drafting, doing flip turns, and getting splashed. A coach will be on deck giving you feedback to improve your stroke and become faster and more efficient in the water.
Don't worry if you get tired, you can always take a break or sit out a 50, which is a lap of the pool; down and back.

Where can I find a Masters swimming class?
Masters swimming classes are often offered at local rec centers or clubs during early morning, lunchtime, and after work.
