Test your race readiness in the early season with this fun event that you can even race on a gravel bike!
Arizona is great for a weekend getaway for everyone, but especially those living in colder climates.
Take a few extra days, bask in the sun, find some great, new trails and take in the best of Arizona - from the famed Sedona Red Rocks and Grand Canyon's South Rim, to soaring saguaro cactus and stunning desert scenery.

*26 slots to XTERRA World Championship in Trentino, Italy - 1st place in each 5 year division
Gravel bikes with straight, MTB-style handlebars welcome.

XTERRA ICEMAN AQUABIKE

Saturday, February 26
By 7:30 a.m. we would like to have all athletes onsite. At that time the road from the entry station to the boat ramp will be closed to inbound traffic. Vehicles may leave at any time but please be aware cyclists and runners will be on the road.

Course Description

SWIM
Expect the water temp to be in the low 60s. Per USA Triathlon wetsuits, neoprene caps and neoprene boots are allowed. USA Triathlon has granted us a rules amendment to allow neoprene gloves, provided they are not webbed.
TRANSITION
Swim in/Bike in at east end (end closest to the lake)
Bike out/Run out at west end
Rack bike according to race number. Five bikes per rack
The ground in transition is on the rough side. Feel free to leave flip flops at swim exit
ROAD BIKE
Two loop out and back toward Carefree Highway
No water stations. Athletes to self-support on bike
Road not closed to traffic. STAY RIGHT! Share the road. Exercise caution
Please ride very cautiously from the entry station down the hill to the boat ramp. This section of road will also have runners
Follow BIKE signs (yellow sign with black lettering) and follow instructions of staff and/or MCSO
Turn around
1. Castle Hot Springs Rd 3.1 miles from north boat ramp
2. Boat ramp/transition area
XTERRA BIKE
In order to reduce the amount of traffic on the roads we will be blocking traffic from entering the race course. We will still be allowing local and business traffic to access Castle Hot Springs Road. Furthermore, people may be camping in the area and not realize there is a race in progress. Please ride with caution at all times.
Drop handle bars are not allowed. You may use a gravel bike but it will need straight (mt bike style) handlebars.

AQUABIKE
Final time for aquabike participants will be calculated at BIKE IN. Once you have finished please make your way to the finish line in your own time to collect your medal, grab a drink and return your timing chip.

Awards
The XTERRA Iceman Triathlon is a qualifier for the XTERRA World Championship. First place in each division will receive an invitation to race in Italy following the event.
Overall awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers. Age group awards will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers per the following age groups:
10-14
15-19
20-24
25-29
30-34
35-39
40-44
45-49
50-54
55-59
60-64
65-69
70-74
75-79
80+
Awards will also be given to the top three finishers in the following categories:
Clydesdales (Men 220 +lbs.)
Athena’s (Women 165+ lbs.)
Aquabike
Duathlon
Relay
Timing
This event will be chip timed by 4 Peaks Racing using triathlon chips. Lost or unreturned chips will be charged to the athlete. Results will be available live at the results kiosk on a big screen TV. Chips should be worn on your left ankle and must be returned at the finish.
