The countdown is on for the first-ever XTERRA Trentino Dolomiti Paganella off-road triathlon and duathlon races, September 24-26, 2021, in Molveno, Italy. In partnership with Europe Triathlon, the events will double as the European Cross Triathlon and Cross Duathlon Championships, promising exciting racing as athletes battle it out for the championship title.
The breathtaking venue situated on the shores of Lake Molveno fronting the Brenta Dolomites, which hosted the XTERRA Dolomiti di Brenta Trail Marathon earlier this month and the XTERRA Molveno Short Track races last October, has proven to be a big hit with sports-lovers and their families.
Staring Wednesday, Andalo Life Park will be alive with activity as athletes prepare to race in the cross-duathlon on Friday, and the cross-triathlon on Sunday.
Both courses promise to be unforgettable with the towns of Molveno and Andalo showcasing all the area has to offer, from the breathtaking and enchanting lake to the scenic run course and the challenging but equally rewarding bike route.
The Dolomiti Paganella Tourism Board Managing Director, Luca D’Angelo, looks forward to welcoming athletes to the area.
“It is a real honor for us to host such a great international event,” said D’Angelo. “We are looking forward to sharing this adventure with our mountain community and really believe our destination could become a favorite hotspot for professional and amateur endurance athletes with our stunning Dolomites landscape, great tourism facilities, and wide range of outdoor experiences for the entire family.”
With this being one of the first chances athletes have had to represent their country at a championship event this year, rest assured they will be ready to go all-in. Elite athletes will be competing for the prize-purse on offer, while amateur athletes will be looking to secure their spot on the starting line for the 25th XTERRA World Championships in Maui on December 5, 2021.
“The municipalities of Molveno and Andalo in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites are the perfect location for off-road duathlon and triathlon racing,” said Renato Bertrandi, President of Europe Triathlon. “It is a paradise for the outdoor enthusiast and offers the perfect infrastructure. I am delighted the 2021 European Champs of Cross Triathlon and Duathlon have been assigned to XTERRA.”
Kostas Koumargialis, the marketing director for XTERRA Europe, said “We are really looking forward to hosting this unforgettable event alongside Europe Triathlon. The region is truly stunning, it’s an adventure playground for our athletes.”
