More than 1,500 trail runners are registered for the second annual XTERRA Taihu 5K, 10K, 30K, and 50K trail runs at the Taihu National Tourism Vacation Zone in Suzhou, China taking place on May 15-16, 2021
The 50K race, which routes through Yuyang Mountain and Guangfu scenic spots surrounding the famous Taihu Lake, boasts more than 2,100-meters of elevation gain and will award two International Trail Running Association (ITRA) points, the 30K distance will award one ITRA point.
The races are part of a green weekend to celebrate and honor the XTERRA China running community, building upon a successful twelve-month X-plogging sustainability initiative launched last June.
The outdoor festival starts on Saturday with a kid’s triathlon, yoga, a fitness exercise competition, DIY/Flea Market, music, and camping. On Sunday, organizers anticipate more than 1,500 spectators to take in the trail race action.

Jiajia Li and Jingyan “Leti” Tang of China captured the inaugural XTERRA Taihu Trail 50K trail races last November with winning times of 4:50:02 and 5:50:15, respectively. Fei Li and Xing Wu won the 30K race in 2:50:45 and 3:57:42.
The XTERRA Taihu Trail Run is the third of nine events in the 2021 XTERRA Trail Marathon Series that awards ITRA points at events held across the U.S., European, and Asia-Pacific regions.

In addition to the trail races, the XTERRA China team is also hosting additional sustainability initiatives including X-plogging events around the Taihu National Tourism Vacation Zone on race day, planting one tree on behalf of each athlete through the Green Foundation, providing reusable cups, using recycled materials for the race bag and race tee shirt, awarding wooden medals, and eliminating plastic cutlery and plates.
