PAUL MITCHELL CUT-A-THON
Paul Mitchell has long put the “Style” in Lifestyle Sports and has been a loyal sponsor of XTERRA for more than a decade. Simply put, the stylists are cool, and with shirts that sport their motto “giving back is the new black” these professionals create the most magnificent cuts for the XTERRA Tribe during our major events.
At the XTERRA USA Championship in Utah, racers, family, friends, and spectators will have two chances to get their hair cut by Paul Mitchell stylists.
In exchange for a $15 donation to the non-profit Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) – the official charity of the Paul Mitchell hair-cut-a-thon – you can get your do done right! The CAF was founded to help physically challenged athletes reach their athletic goals. Give back, get styled, Live More

DESCRIPTION
XTERRA USA Championship Run-Bike-Run Course Description
The XTERRA USA Championship full distance race starts and finishes at Snowbasin Resort and combines a 2.5-mile (4K) trail run with a 19-mile (30K) mountain bike, and 5.5-mile (9K) trail run.
On Saturday morning, elites will start first at 9:00am and we’ll follow with two or three wave starts for the age group field to space everyone out.
The opening run starts at 6,400-feet elevation and heads uphill the first mile, which will do wonders in creating gaps between competitors, then goes right back down to Snowbasin Resort for the run-to-bike transition.
The new mountain bike course is a gem, and for the first time ever, has just as much downhill as uphill and will most certainly reward the best technical riders.
“It’s a great course, I think the XTERRA Family will love it,” said race director, Chris Appleton. “It’s fun and flowing, and uses the best trails on the mountain. It’s the trails our crew rides during our free time when we’re in town.”
As racers leave transition they’ll climb roughly four miles to the top of Sardine Peak in reverse direction of what we’ve done in previous years, which is actually the preferred way to ride Sardine for locals.
It’s about 900-feet of sweet singletrack to the top of the peak at 9,400-feet, and from there riders can relish a ripping downhill through Upper Wheeler Creek to Icebox Canyon to Art Nord where it connects to the climb up East Fork then to the flying Middle Fork downhill until it meets Old Snowbasin Road.
Riders will go up the access road to the base at Snowbasin for some more fun riding on the Moose Loop trail into the bike-to-run transition. All told, there’s about 3,000-feet of up and down.
The final run stage has two main climbs. The first half-mile takes harriers uphill to Snowbasin Trail then slightly downhill for 1.5-miles to Green Pond, followed by a steady zig-zag climb to the high-point where it meets Needles trail (6,926ft) and then comes the RUN FOR GOLD, a 1.5-mile downhill to the finish line.
XTERRA Utah Sprint Run-Bike-Run Course Description
The XTERRA Utah Sprint Run-Bike-Run combines a 1.5-mile trail run with a 13-mile mountain bike and 3-mile trail run.
Sprint will start at 9:45am with two or three waves to space everyone out.
The opening run boasts about 250-feet of climbing in the first half-mile then works back down to the bike-to-run transition.
The bike is a beauty, straight up Sardine Peak just like the full course with a super fun and flowy downhill that connects to Old Snowbasin Road at the Middle Fork crossing, which works its way back to the Resort for the bike-to-run transition.
The last run leg climbs about 400-feet in the first 1.5 miles, but it’s all downhill from there!
Note: Distances and elevation gains are approximate, read differently on various devices, and are subject to change.
