An Introduction to Pilates for the XTERRA Family
This Sunday, July 26, at 12pm PDT/3pm EDT, join us LIVE on Facebook for an interactive 30-minute introduction to Pilates with five-time XTERRA Japan women’s elite champion Mieko Carey.
Carey, who gave birth to adorable twins four years ago, started her own Pilates studio shortly afterwards – BX Body Pilates – as a second career to help athletes and others stay strong and avoid injuries.
“I am so excited to connect with my XTERRA family and show them all about Pilates and how it can help with balance and flexibility and healing,” she said.
Carey, who lives on the other side of the international dateline in Guam, will be broadcasting from her studio at 5am in the morning on her Monday – which is noon on Sunday on the west coast of the U.S.
“It’s okay, she laughs, I wake up at 4am every day to workout before the twins get up anyway!”
Those who were not fortunate enough to meet Carey during her 12-year career racing all over the XTERRA Asia-Pacific Region will be quickly enamored with her warm and welcoming spirit, depth of knowledge, and care for the community.
The program she has planned will cover introductory level Pilates philosophy and exercises that can be done without equipment in the comfort of your own home. It’s a craft she learned to love and was certified in after using it to successfully combat debilitating sciatic nerve pain.
“It helped me so much during my racing career and still today, and I’m eager to share what I’ve learned and its benefits with the XTERRA family. See you Sunday,” she smiles.
