Let’s get rolling!
In this training edition of XTERRA Connect we head to the hills of Mertesdorf, Germany for an inside look into the summertime training regime of 45-49 XTERRA World Champion Marc Pschebizin.
“I like alternative types of training, and my favorite among them is inline cross country skating with very long poles,” said Pschebizin, an XTERRA certified coach and 10x winner of Switzerland’s Inferno Triathlon.
Pschebizin, who has been racing and coaching triathlon for 20 years, wears race skates but notes that normal inline skates would work.
“The most important thing is to find a good road, that’s not too busy with cars. A flat road will work but one with hills provides an even greater workout for your arms and legs.”
As for technique, “It’s very simple,” explained Pschebizin. “Take two strides, with left and right foot, and one big swing with your arms – like you’re swimming and swing it all the way back to full extension. Be sure to have fun and go at your own pace to find the right amount of aerobic and anaerobic threshold.”
