The 2019 XTERRA Trail Running National Championship half-marathon, 5K, and 10K races to be held Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Snowbasin Resort in Hunstville, Utah were cancelled due to lightning this morning.
An electrical storm producing visible cloud-to-ground strikes initially postponed the 9am start for the event, and after monitoring the storm forecasts it was determined by the XTERRA racing committee with input from Snowbasin Resort’s mountain safety team that lightning strikes were probable through late afternoon.
“We are disappointed, but the safety of our runners is our top priority and we made this decision to protect them,” said XTERRA President, Janet Clark.
All event entries were deferred to 2020.
