Off-road triathlon’s greatest day is just one month away.
On October 27, 2019, the best amateur and professional XTERRA athletes from around the world will gather at D.T. Fleming Beach in Kapalua, Maui to chase the ultimate title of XTERRA World Champion.
The challenge combines a 1.5-kilometer (1-mile) swim that starts at D.T. Fleming Beach in front of the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua with a new and improved two-lap 32-kilometer (20-miles) mountain bike course, and a tricky 10.5-kilometer (6.5-miles) trail run that traverses forest trails, and beach sand.
A star-studded elite field will race for their share of $100,000 in prize money, including the top five men from last year with defending champ Rom Akerson from Costa Rica, 2017 Champ Bradley Weiss from South Africa, 2019 Pan Am Champ Sam Osborne from New Zealand, three-time XTERRA World Champ Ruben Ruzafa from Spain, and the 2015 World Champ Josiah Middaugh from the U.S. Then you've got the "two Arthurs" - Arthur Forissier who won the ITU Cross Tri World Title this year, and Arthur Serrieres, who took home the biggest wins of the season in Europe including the Tour title.
In the women’s elite chase the fabulous Flora Duffy from Bermuda looks to become the first to win five XTERRA World Championship titles. She’ll be up against reigning and three-time XTERRA World Champ Lesley Paterson from Scotland, the reigning XTERRA European race champ Morgane Riou from France, the Euro Tour Champ Helena Karaskova Erbanova from the Czech Republic, Pan Am Tour Champ Samantha Kingsford from New Zealand, and Asia-Pacific Tour Champion Carina Wasle from Austria, among others!
Those are just a few of the top contenders headed to Maui for the last in a series of more than 100 races held in 30+ countries in 2019. We’ll have more on the elite and amateur races in the days and weeks to come. The event will be filmed for an internationally broadcast TV show and streamed live online starting at 8am Hawaii time on xterraplanet.com.
