Wayne Goff and Gracie Griffith captured the titles of the 16K run at the XTERRA Battle at Big Creek 8/16K on October 27th.
Goff won with a time of 1:09:19, Travis Presnel was second in 1:10:46, and Mark Werner was third in 1:10:47.
In the women’s division, Griffith won with a time of 1:15:29 while Bri Famera, who won XTERRA Harbins Park Trail Run in September, was second in 1:17:52. Jodi Blackwell was third in 1:22:33. Griffith also won this race last year as well as the XTERRA Thrill in the Hills 21K back in February 2018.
“It was great running weather and I love the trail,” said Griffith after the race. "It is always such a challenge with all the rocks and roots in certain sections. I was able to gain most of the space between me and Bri by literally scampering quickly up the hills because she was much more fearless on the downhills. Dirty Spokes always puts on great races and I know I’ll be back for more soon."
Big Creek Park in Roswell Georgia is known for its incredibly runnable single track trails.
Mitch Novy won the 8K with a time of 36:20. Tim Spradlin was second in 39:11, and Trevor Hosch was third in 40:14. In the women’s division, Jenny Turner was first in 41:11. Tess Hammond was second in 43:21 while Katie McNamara was third in 45:23.
Next up is the XTERRA Little Mulberry Park 5/10K on November 10th, 2018.
