XTERRA races can get pretty dirty, especially at the XTERRA World Championship, where the Hawaii rain can turn an already tough trail into a muddy playground. Luckily, the partnership between XTERRA and Paul Mitchell ensures that as dirty as you get, you can clean up and look even better than before.
In addition to the John Paul Mitchell Systems’ (JPMS) Tea Tree products in racer swag bags, Paul Mitchell will again be offering a Cut-a-Thon this Saturday and Sunday in Maui to benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
This year, five physically challenged athletes will be competing in the XTERRA World Championship. Jose Manuel (Pepe) Candon (#816) lost his eyesight in a bomb explosion while he was serving in the Spanish military. Jerone Samari (#818) is a teenager suffering from cerebral palsy, but he’s not letting that stop him from reaching his goals on the Maui course. Michel Ganon (#817) has one hand, Willie Stewart (#819) has one arm, and Jodi Pettit (#301) has physical challenges from Rheumatoid Arthritis. Their determination to conquer the toughest XTERRA in the world inspires all of us to be better in our own lives and reach beyond what we think is possible.
Paul Mitchell joins XTERRA in recognizing that these athletes are the true XTERRA warriors. To support them, Paul Mitchell donates 100% of the proceeds from the weekend Cut-a-Thon to the Challenged Athletes Foundation(CAF), giving athletes, friends, family, and spectators alike the chance to make a difference just by getting their haircut, trimmed, or braided by a Paul Mitchell Stylist. In exchange for a small cash donation, racers and supporters will not only look great, but they will feel great too, because they’re helping CAF provide opportunities and support to those with physical challenges so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics.
