On Saturday, July 7th, XTERRA Whitewater will take off for a 1K swim, 23K bike, and 6.5K run adventure.
Held at the United States National Whitewater Center, XTERRA Whitewater celebrates its 9th annual race on the Catawba River with yet another test of both skill and endurance. The run and bike legs will take you through the beautiful USNWC trail system, which is one of the best in the country.
While we will expect the usual outstanding crew of XTERRA Southeast athletes on the starting line, this year has an added bonus of having 2016 Mr. XTERRA, Marcus Barton at the helm.
Always modest, Barton insists, “I won’t be the race director, but I’ll be the right-hand man and I’ll try to make sure I pass on the tribal knowledge as I can.”
What this means is that Barton will be helping with course marking, transition setup, and race prep on Friday in addition to leading a transition clinic on Friday evening, July 6th at 6:30 pm. The clinic will provide tips to make your transitions faster and more effective. It will also include a Q&A of the following day’s race.
