When the 19th century writer Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote – Be first a good animal, he could have been writing about XTERRA Trail Runs. This is especially true in the summer when cool mornings, a dirt path, and running shoes are more than enough.
On July 28th, revel in the Southern sun when XTERRA lands in Morristown, Tennessee for the XTERRA Panther Creek Trail Run. Nestled around a finger of Cherokee Lake, Panther Creek State Park presents a rural playground just outside of Knoxville. Runners can choose between a half-marathon or a 4.2 mile loop.
The following weekend, you can experience the old-world beauty of the XTERRA Romania 3K/25K in Targo Mures, Transylvania on August 3rd. The run will be held in a beautiful park on the Plateau Cornesti. Athletes can sign up for a 3K, 5K, 12K, or 25K. Additionally, there will be a kids’ race, allowing the entire family to enjoy the day. If don’t live nearby, the XTERRA Romania Trail Run is a magnificent opportunity to see one of the most traditional countries in Europe with some of the most stunning architecture.
On August 4th, XTERRA heads back to the east coast for the XTERRA Steep Rock Trail Run in Washington Depot, Connecticut. This is a wonderful opportunity to check out the trails at the Steep Rock Preserve while they are at their finest. Offering up both 80K (50-mile) and 50K ultra races, XTERRA Steep Rock gives you a chance to test your endurance and see what you are made of. Additionally, 10K and 25K races are also available.
The next day, on August 5th, XTERRA goes way up to 6,200 feet in Castle Rock, Colorado for the XTERRA Castle Rock Trail Run which is the 2018 XTERRA Colorado Series finale. Centrally located between Denver and Colorado Springs, XTERRA Castle Rock offers a 5K, 10K, and 20K on the incredible, soft surface trails of Phillip S. Miller Park in Castle Rock. XTERRA Castle Rock has the added distinction of being designed by Peter Maksimow, an elite mountain, trail, and ultra runner. Maksimow was a member of the silver medal winning US team at the 2015 World Long Distance Mountain Running Championship.
