The XTERRA Planet was abuzz with action last weekend from the European Tour in Portugal, the Pan America Tour in the Dominican Republic, and the America Tour in Knoxville, Tennessee.
In Golega, the horse capital of Portugal, 3x XTERRA World Champ Ruben Ruzafa showed he was in mid-season form in his first major of the year while Brigitta Poor continued to roll towards another dominating season and tour title defense.
In Samana, despite a nearby earthquake that rattled the island in the early morning, it was reigning and two-time XTERRA Pan Am Pro Series champ Josiah Middaugh who shook up the competition and won his second straight on the Tour. In the women’s race Mexico’s Fabiola Corona took the win and took position of a tie for first-place in the tour standings.
Back in the U.S., the XTERRA Southeast Region regulars reveled in the fourth stop of racing in the region at XTERRA Knoxville, with Caleb Baity picking up his third age group win and second overall victory this season, while Sue Finney grabbed her second division title and first overall win this year.
There was also a set of trail races in Knoxville, with Peter Migun and Karen McNeany taking home top honors in the half-marathon on Saturday.
