On May 26th, 13-time XTERRA South Central Regional Champion Kyle Grieser and three-time XTERRA South Central Regional Champ, Alyssa Magrum, captured the titles at XTERRA Rock Dallas in Flower Mound, Texas. Grieser, 35, won in 2:01:09 while Andy Kelsey, 50, was second in 2:02:17. Four-time XTERRA South Central Regional Champ, Chuck Olinger, 50, was third in 2:06:14.

Both Kelsey and Olinger competed in XTERRA Oak Mountain last weekend in Pelham, Alabama. Kelsey was one of the first out of the water at XTERRA Oak Mountain, ahead of many of the elite triathletes. Kelsey finished fourth in the 50-54 age group at XTERRA Oak Mountain while Olinger finished fifth. They finished less than 20 seconds apart.

“I used XTERRA Oak Mountain as a training day,” said Olinger, who was a Navy SEAL for eight years. “XTERRA gives me a reason to play in the water and dirt again and for that I’m grateful. When I’m not teaching, I’m racing.”

Olinger teaches high school special education.

At XTERRA Rock Dallas, both Kelsey and Olinger had strong swims and led out of the water before Grieser caught Olinger on the bike and Kelsey after T2.

For the women, Alissa Magrum led out of the water and kept her lead until the end. Magrum dominated on the run, sealing her victory by almost five minutes, finishing in 2:34:51 to Lutz’ 2:39:18. Karen Robertson was third in 2:43:20.
