On May 5th and 6th, XTERRA will be heading south to Florida and then further south to Uruguay before heading down under to New Zealand. XTERRA Gozo in Malta will also be a sundrenched run in the Malta paradise that mimics the weather in Oahu, the site of the XTERRA Trail Run World Championship.
“Every year XTERRA’s footprint gets bigger,” said XTERRA Trail Run manager, Emily McIlvaine. “It’s a joy to see so many runners around the world hit the dirt, cheer each other on, and swap post-race war stories.”
XTERRA Claw Run 6/16K
The XTERRA Claw Run in Alafia River State Park near Tampa is one of XTERRA Florida runners’ favorite trails and favorite races.
Christopher Liston, who is currently serving in the Army, cites Alafia State Park as one of his favorite places to run. Look for him on the starting line of the XTERRA Claw Run on May 6th along with XTERRA Regional Champs Jay Lund and Jill Corbett.
Expect lots of company on the course. Last year, over 400 runners showed up to brave the course which changes every year and sometimes doesn’t even follow an official trail.
“This is a particularly challenging course where they aren't even on running on trail sometimes. At some points in the race, runners are following just a bunch of flagging tape through the woods, said race director Jim Hartnett.
But “hard” is also what makes the XTERRA Claw Run so great. Whether it’s running off trail or crossing a stream, don’t miss this one of a kind race.
XTERRA Gozo 21/50K
On the lush, Mediterranean island of Gozo – the sister island to Malta – runners have an opportunity to experience perfect mix of beaches, cliff-edge trails, lush valleys and small villages.
The course has a total elevation gain of about 1500 meters including two steep climbs. The rest of the route consists of an undulating gradient that will allow you to enjoy the sights and views while covering distance relatively quickly.
XTERRA Uruguay 10/21K
Held in one of the biggest resort towns in South America, the XTERRA Uruguay Trail Runs in Punta del Este combine urban luxury with rugged coastal beauty. Choose between the one-lap 10K or continue on and challenge yourself in the 21K.
