For the first time since the inception of the XTERRA America Tour in 2001 the regional alignment has shifted.
There are still eight XTERRA regions across the country, however, in 2018 Missouri will be in the Midwest region and New Mexico will be in the Mountain region. Both had previously been in the South Central region.
“These two moves were heavily supported by the athletes and race directors in the regions and made sense from a geographical perspective,” said XTERRA President Janet Clark.
The change means XTERRA racers living in New Mexico and Missouri will be competing head-to-head for regional championship honors against athletes from neighboring states to the north rather than the south, and XTERRA St. Louis will be a Midwest region race rather than a South Central region event.
