This Weekend on the XTERRA America Tour

The next few weeks on the XTERRA America Tour will be jam-packed with races as athletes try to maintain their peak fitness while they prepare for XTERRA Nationals and Pan American Championship next month. From XTERRA Rockport Rugged in Michigan to XTERRA Wild Ride in Idaho, there's a way for all off-road athletes to enjoy the last days of summer.

XTERRA Rockport Rugged
XTERRA Rockport Rugged, the adventure triathlon, will take place on August 19, 2017 at Rockport State Recreation Area in Alpena, Michigan.

This event highlights the rough and rugged terrain of Rockport State Recreation Area providing the best possible athlete race day adventure experience, in a fun, friendly, family-focused environment. The race is in stark contrast to standard triathlon experiences and will challenge athletes with uneven terrain, dirt, rocks, tree limbs, and the waves of Lake Huron.

XTERRA Auburn will take place August 19th, 2017 at Chewacla State Park in Auburn, Alabama.  The swim will take place in the park’s 26-acre swimming lake, while the bike and run will highlight the park’s 25+ miles of mountain bike trails.  The bike portion will include scenic views of Chewacla Lake as well as the park’s feature waterfall before returning to transition to start the run.  The run begins on the beginner CAMP trail which showcases the park’s campgrounds, and continues through the famous “Kick Six” trail, which was under construction the weekend of Auburn’s famous comeback against the University of Alabama in the 2013 Iron Bowl.

XTERRA Aspen Valley
The XTERRA Aspen Valley Triathlon on August 19th features a 1200 meter swim in a private ski lake where the water temperature is a balmy 75 degrees. The swim will be followed by either a 12-mile or 6-mile mountain bike ride, and a 3-mile trail run. The entire event is located on private property in El Jebel, Colorado, just outside of Aspen.

XTERRA Wild Ride
The 12th Annual XTERRA Wild Ride on August 20th features a .75 mile swim, a 18.5-mile mountain bike, and a 6.2 mi trail run. XTERRA Wild Ride is Idaho’s original XTERRA event and will be held at the stunning Ponderosa State Park near McCall, Idaho.

The venue is a world class set-up with all amenities on-site. There are fully furnished cabins and yurts for rent, as well as tent and RV camping.

Additionally, there will be a Kids Off-Road Triathlon event following the main event.
