Honolulu, HI – XTERRA, the worldwide leader in off-road triathlon, has named Flight Centre Active Travel as the Official Travel Partner of the inaugural XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championship race scheduled for April 25-27, 2014 in the beach side town of Callala, on pristine Jervis Bay, New South Wales, Australia.

Flight CentreFlight Centre Active Travel (formerly Healthwise Active Travel) is a division of Flight Centre that specializes in Active Travel packages, including confirmed race entry to sold-out and international active events.

“This is a great alliance between two like-minded companies and will be a terrific asset for our athletes,” said XTERRA CEO Tom Kiely.  “Flight Centre Active Travel will take the stress out of travel arrangements for incoming competitors from the Pacific Rim region and beyond so all they’ll have to do is dig their toes in the sand and have a great XTERRA experience in NSW.”

The partnership also extends to other major events on the XTERRA Asia-Pacific tour as well as the XTERRA World Championship race in Maui and the XTERRA Trail Run World Championship on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu.

Flight Centre Active Travel will create custom travel packages for each event that can be customized to include airfare, accommodations, rental car, insurance, and more for both athletes and spectators.  They’ll also provide $1,000 in travel vouchers as awards to competitors in the Asia-Pacific Champs.

“Flight Centre Active Travel is excited to be involved with XTERRA, being competitors and travelers ourselves, we have experienced first hand the professionalism and passion that XTERRA offers all over the world.  We look forward to working with the XTERRA family and hope we can help to make some dreams come true - Flight Centre Active Travel - getting you across the line,” said Shannon Stacey, Global Brand Leader for Flight Centre Active Travel.

Just a few hours south of Sydney, Jervis Bay is a majestic stretch of coastline endowed with beaches, bays, interesting country towns, great food and wine and many natural attractions.

The XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championship race combines a one-mile swim with roughly 30-kilometers of mountain biking followed by 10km of trail running.  It doubles as the XTERRA Australia Championship, awarding national titles to locals and qualifying spots into the XTERRA World Championship for all involved.

The weekend will also include a sprint distance off-road triathlon (half-mile swim, 15K mountain bike, 5K trail run), plus stand-alone trail runs, ocean swims, kid’s races, camps, clinics, and social gatherings.
