XTERRA Colorado Trail Run Series Set to Start on September 22
Marathon of Trail Races will offer three courses at Cheyenne Mountain
The XTERRA Colorado Trail Run Series will begin its 2013-14 season on September 22 and runners of all ages and abilities, from all states, are invited to participate.
The XTERRA Marathon of Trail Races is set for September 22 at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in Colorado Springs, and it will serve as the first of four races in the 2013-14 XTERRA Colorado Trail Run Series.
The Marathon of Trail Races is unique in that offers three different courses for runners to choose from. The highlight of the event is a full-marathon course (26.2 miles) that will take the runners on close to 3,000 feet of total climbing in the thin Colorado air. The course will hit a peak elevation of approximately 6,900 feet.
If that sounds a bit extreme, there will also be a half-marathon course (13.1 miles). Both the half-marathon and full-marathon courses will offer challenging uphill and downhill sections, with amazing views along the way.
For the less-experienced runners, a 5-kilometer course will also be offered.
Online registration will be open through September 18. REGISTER BY CLICKING HERE
The Marathon of Trail Races will be the first of at least four races during the 2013-14 season for the XTERRA Colorado Trail Run Series. Other races will follow in the spring and summer of 2014.
Colorado is one of 17 regions that will host an XTERRA Trail Run Series during the 2013-14 season. The others are: Alabama, Arizona, Atlantic, Southern California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, North Carolina, Pocono, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Washington.
At the end of the season, the age-group champions from each region will receive free entry to the 2014 XTERRA Trail Run National Championship at Ogden, Utah.
