Last year XTERRA hosted the first-ever three-stop XTERRA Asia Pacific Triple Crown off-road triathlon series, and by popular demand – it’s back!
The tropical series of events in the Western Pacific provides a brilliant opportunity for professional and amateur competitors from around the world with the opportunity to train and race in perfect conditions at exotic destinations where the ocean is clean and clear, the air is warm, the people are friendly, and the experience authentic.
More than a dozen racers from eight different countries took part in the Triple Crown last year, and would be quick to tell you what an amazing experience it was. Among them were Ben Allen (AUS), Olivier Marceau (SUI), Cedric Lassonde (FRA), Graham Wadsworth (GBR), Branden Rakita (USA), Will Kelsay (USA), Takahiro Ogasawara (JPN), Renata Bucher (SUI), Jacqui Slack (GBR), Carina Wasle (AUT), Yoshimi Yasui (JPN), Chuck Fortier (CAN), and Guam natives Gabe Lombard, Mark Cruz, Tobias Theisen and Rick Leone.
This year the fun starts at XTERRA Philippines on Saturday, March 2 (with the most amazing Governor’s reception you’ll ever experience on Saturday night followed by a trail run on Sunday morning). Up next is the “Crown Jewel” - the XTERRA Saipan Championship on Saturday, March 9th. A full week of fun and games on Saipan ensues with the Saipan Sportsfest leading up to the Tagaman road tri on March 16. Then, it’s a quick hop to the neighbor island of Guam for the XTERRA Guam Championship on March 23.
Each of the XTERRA World Tour championship races offers $15,000 in prize money to professionals and qualifying spots into the XTERRA World Championship for amateurs.
The last weekend of March is Easter, then the return of XTERRA in Australia with the XTERRA Great Ocean Road on April 7 followed by the XTERRA New Zealand Championship on April 14.
