XTERRA off-road trail running is exploding into the Northwest with the 2008 Oregon Trail Run Series. With all three races stretching past the Portland city limits, XTERRA invites runners to ditch their city mentality and immerse themselves in the rugged outdoor terrain.
The XTERRA Dirt Dash Trail Run takes place in Forest Grove, Oregon and from the Sain Creek Pavilion runners will cover five miles of rocky, dirt-filled, root-lined terrain.
On the banks of the Hagg Lake, athletes will take their marks to kick off the first race in the series.
The second race in the Oregon Series is the XTERRA Havoc at the Hideout. Five miles of rough and tough trails cover the breathtaking Hornings Hideout in North Plains, Oregon. Every type of terrain will challenge runners as they barrel over logs, leap over creeks, stumble up hills and navigate over the dirt-covered trails.
The XTERRA Oregon Series wraps up with the third race in the season, the XTERRA Tillamook Burn 8k. According to race director Kevin Foreman, “The course may be the best trail course we have offered in 15-years.” Set on the private Wood Fire Farms, Kevin and his team have constructed a 10k event with “flat spots, lung bursting hills and a couple of eye-watering downhills. All amazing.” Taking place in Pacific City, every detail has been covered from the pre and post race camping available to the Hillstomp band concert following the race.
With Oregon having its share of uncertain weather, athletes better be ready for a variety of conditions anywhere from a pristine, sun-filled run to an all-out, slippery mud-fest.
