July 28, 2012 – XTERRA Beech Mountain Trail Run (15K or 5K courses) at Beech Mountain, NC
September 15, 2012 – XTERRA Fisher Farm Trail Run (16K or 8K courses) at Davidson, NC

After two successful seasons, the XTERRA North Carolina Trail Run Series is looking to make the third time a charm for runners in 2012.
“I think there’s a lot of potential in North Carolina,” series director Tim Schroer said. “There are some beautiful trail systems there and some really fast runners. We’ve been building this series the last two years and the word is spreading so we’re hoping to be bigger and better.”
The 2012 North Carolina schedule will feature three races at three different locations. Each race will offer two separate courses – a “long” course and a shorter option. Therefore, runners of all ages and skill levels can participate.
Medals and other prizes will be awarded to the top age-group finishers at each race. At the end of the series, the top overall runners in each respective age group will receive a free entry to represent North Carolina at the 2012 XTERRA Trail Run National Championship.
North Carolina is one of 12 regions that are hosting an XTERRA Trail Run Series in 2012. The others are Alabama, Arizona, Southern California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Pocono, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
