With three challenging, not-for-the-weak-hearted trail runs making up the 2008 New England Trail Run Series, XTERRA is showing the northeast just how extreme off-road races can be.
With its long, respected history, the XTERRA Merrimack River Trail Run has become a New England institution and returns for its 17th straight year to the Wyndham Hotel in Andover. Simply known as “The Rivah”, this race has been known to attract athletes of all levels from the novice runner all the way up to Olympian Lynn Jennings. Proceeds from the race go to benefit the Thomas Chamberas scholarship fund.
Kicking off the New Hampshire portion of the series is the XTERRA Muddy Moose Xduro held at Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro. In its ninth year, the Muddy Moose Trail Run is teaming up with XTERRA to give runners the ultimate, mud-slinging, log-tripping race around. Having been named part of the “Best of New Hampshire” by New Hampshire Magazine, the race has certainly earned its reputation with its duel-path course full of ambitious obstacles and steep hills.
The XTERRA STOAKED Trail Run takes place in the Storrs Pond Recreation Area in Hanover, New Hampshire. Ten miles of unforgiving terrain make up the composition of the grueling endurance event. Part of the proceeds from the race will help aid the Upper Valley Mountain Biking Association and the Dartmouth Outing Club.
