If you’re looking for a trail run in the state of Georgia, the XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series is sure to have something for you.
The 2012-13 schedule for the XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series will include seven races at seven different locations. Each race is open to runners of all ages and skill levels, with the course distances ranging from a 5K to a full marathon.
“We have some exciting venues again for the XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series,” series director Tim Schroer said. “We think there is enough variety of courses throughout the series for you to really enjoy what you are getting into.”
The races in the Georgia Series are spread across the calendar, with events in September, October, November, December, February and June. In essence, runners who enter all of the races will get to experience the dramatic changes in natural scenery as the series progresses through the year.
The highlight of the season is the XTERRA Thrill in the Hill Trail Run at Winder, Georgia, in February. That event will feature a full-marathon (42K) course as well as a half-marathon (21K) course.
The new event this season is the XTERRA Little Mulberry Trail Run in Dacula in November. “We’re real excited to bring Little Mulberry to the Georgia Series,” Schroer said. “It is one of the most popular trails in the area, and was recently designated a National Recreation Trail, so we think it’s a great addition.”
All runners who register for the series will receive a commemorative Georgia Series pint glass, as well as a dri-fit race shirt (with both men’s and women’s size options available), while supplies last.
Overall standings for the Georgia Series will be updated after each race. The top runners in each respective age group will earn points at each race toward the overall standings . At the conclusion of the series, the top runner in each age group will be declared a Georgia Series Champion, and will earn a free entry to represent Georgia at the 2013 XTERRA Trail Run National Championship.
The more races you enter, the better your chances are of winning an age-group championship.
