The XTERRA 2008 Chesapeake Bay Trail Run Series is comprised of four races stretching up the Atlantic from Maryland to New Jersey. With tree-lined, dirt-filled, adrenaline rushing courses, runners will be pushed to the limits as they battle whatever nature throws at them.
Faithful followers of the series will be excited to discover that along with the return of the popular Gwynns Falls, Boordy Vineyards and River Ranch Trail Runs, XTERRA has added the brand new XTERRA Camp Edge Trail Run taking place in Alloway, NJ. Although this inaugural event follows the XTERRA National Trail Running Championship and will not be counted toward total points for the current season, this race will be the first opportunity for runners to earn series points for next season.
The Chesapeake series always comes armed with unique and exceptional details including last year’s River Valley Ranch Trail Run where a cowboy on horseback signaled the start of the race with the shot of a gun. In addition to this historic setting, other locations include the Gwynns Falls Park and the popular Boordy Vineyards. Here deserving runners are given the chance to sample an array of Boordy Wines after a hard run.
With a majority of the races held just outside Baltimore, Maryland, the XTERRA Chesapeake Series gives athletes the opportunity to escape the hectic pace of city life and head for the trails and their spectacular views.
