Arizona runners looking to become trail blazers will again have their chance this season as the XTERRA Arizona Series returns with four great trail races.
“I’ve been getting great feedback from local runners, club organizers and other race directors,” Arizona series director Shannon Lindner said. “It’s been really encouraging.”
Every race in the series will feature a long course for experienced runners, and a short course for less-experienced runners.
The courses in the Arizona Series are actually popular with mountain bikers, so it will also serve as a rare chance for trail runners to have the venues to themselves.
Lindner noted that the Arizona races will be staged during the fall/winter months to avoid the extreme high temperatures during the spring/summer months.
At the conclusion of the 2011-12 season, the top age-group runners from each region will receive free entry to the XTERRA Trail Run National Championship at Ogden / Snowbasin, UT.
