With athletes speaking in a myriad of different dialects you'd think there might be some disconnect, but not in Maui, as the spirit of adventure and the camaraderie among competitors has created the unique, universal language of XTERRA. Way beyond just a race, participants are treated to a carnival of activities where they can interact in this global community...
PARADE OF NATIONS
A celebration of country pride highlights the start of the Night of Champions dinner on Saturday as athletes will walk into the luau festival grounds together waving their country flags.
"ONO DINNERS"
Maui is a reward for a great season, and as such competitors are treated to a pair of amazing dinners with the Night of Champions carbo-loading affair on Saturday and the awards celebration on Sunday - complete with highlight videos and special presentations. Both are held under the stars at the magnificent Maui Prince. Tickets remaining after online sales will be available at registration until sold out.
XTERRA GREEN PLEDGE
GU and the XTERRA Eco Team have teamed together to demonstrate the importance of keeping XTERRA's trails clean. All competitors are asked to sign the XTERRA Green Pledge at registration ... and on race day will receive a raffle ticket from GU for each GU wrapper they turn in to the GU booth. At the Awards Dinner, the winner of the raffle will receive the autographed pledge banner and a great swag package from GU, and five runners-up will also get GU swag.
A BLESSING AND A LEI
There is perhaps no pre-race ritual more spiritually powerful than the beachfront Hawaiian blessing by Reverend Alalani Hill, and there's certainly nothing better than crossing the finish line and seeing Raena, who welcomes each finisher with a fresh flower lei.
XTERRA UNIVERSITY PRESENTED BY PAUL MITCHELL
Before the main event athletes can learn from the world's best pros at free clinics focused on the Maui, bike and run courses.
CHAMPIONS FORUM
Past pro winners get together to share their secrets for success and some really funny stories.
XTERRA MAKENA BEACH 5K/10K TRAIL RUNS PRESENTED BY HAWAIIAN AIRLINES,
Friends and family can experience the famous world championship XTERRA run course on Saturday. A benefit for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Maui County. The fastest women in the 10K wins a round trip ticket to the mainland on Hawaiian Airlines.
PAUL MITCHELL CUT-A-THON
Putting the style in lifestyle sports, our long-time sponsor hosts a charity hair cut-a-thon for Challenged Athletes Foundation on Sunday.
XTERRA athlete GL Brown has been growing his year for the past year and plans to cut it all off as an effort to help the Challenged Athletes Foundation and XTERRA World Champ Jamie Whitemore's battle against cancer.
Read about GL Brown and how you can donate to help his cause.
KONA BREWING LIQUID ALOHA LOUNGE
Will be serving ice cold, hand-crafted, award-winning ales and lagers for spectators and post-race athletes, 21 years of age and older. Be sure to join us for a little Liquid Aloha from Kona Brewing Co.
THE LEGENDARY XTERRA HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARTY
After the awards dinner it's time to let the spirits rejoice! Best costume wins a pair of US mainland to Hawaii roundtrip tickets from Hawaiian Airlines. Sorry 21 and over only.
