YOKOYAMA, YOSHIDA WIN XTERRA JAPAN XDURO

Yokoyam, Yoshida Win XTERRA Japan XduroOn August 31, the day after the XTERRA Japan Championship took place in Marunuma, more than 200 runners set off on a 27-kilometer “Xduro” trail run, which was really more like an adventure race.  The grueling run started at 4,000 feet and climbed nearly straight up the muddy, rocky slopes of the surrounding mountains to 9,000 feet before coming back down.  The men’s race was conquered by none-other-than Japan’s own adventure racing star and professional trail runner Minehiro Yokoyama from Nagoya in 4:06:14 while the amazing 52-year-young Kazue Yoshida from Shiba took the women’s title in 4:50:40.

XTERRA RUNNERS GET READY FOR A WHOLE NEW SEASON!

SoCal RunnersThe XTERRA 2008-2009 Trail Run Series begins September 28 with the XTERRA Point Mugu Xduro. This first race in the XTERRA SoCal Trail Run Series takes place in Malibu, California and will offer runners both 18km and 11km adventures.

Standing out from the hundreds of talented runners in the XTERRA SoCal Trail Run Series is 15-year old Hunter Todd of Roseville, CA. This 2007 XTERRA Trail Run Nationals age group silver medalist will be racing in the 18km Xduro event in hopes of qualifying for the XTERRA Trail Running World Championship taking place on December 7 in Hawaii. If his young age weren’t impressive enough, Hunter was also born with a congenital heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot which consists of four distinct and serious malfunctions of the heart. With the help of his father Terry and a heart rate monitor, Hunter is on the road to his goal of being crowned an XTERRA World Champion.
