Local Oregonian, Krissy Preim-Smith is hoping her hometown advantage helps her edge out the competition at the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 27 in Bend. This is her first year racing XTERRA, but so far Krissy is leading her age group in the XTERRA Oregon Trail Run Series after the first two events. When she is not working her job as a firefighter, Krissy can be seen all over the country competing in races including the Rock ‘N Roll Phoenix Marathon, where she qualified for Boston, and the Pacific Crest Marathon. A member of the Oregon Road Runners Club, Krissy has recently turned to trail running and is excited about racing at Nationals to run with some of the sports’ best athletes. Her goal is to one day become one of those trail runners who others try to chase down.

XTERRA Panther Creek Trail Run
Jeremy Donahue, 26, of Sevierville, TN and Tracy Brooks, 25, of Harrogate, TN took home the top honors at the August 2 XTERRA Panther Creek Trail Run in Morristown, TN.
Donahue, who had already taken home a first and a second place finish in the XTERRA Tennessee Trail Run Series, won with a time of 41:22 on the 10-kilometer course. More than four minutes behind him was Phil Roberts, 45, of Greenville.
In the women’s race, Brooks, who took second place at the first two events of the season, finally got her chance to stand on top of the podium with her time of 48:12, six minutes faster than Nicole Howe, 33, of Maryville.
This was the 2008 XTERRA Tennessee Series finale, and top finishers including Donahue and Brooks will be invited to race for free at the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship on September 27 in Bend, Oregon.
