#4 Earn Points

To become a regional champion and earn a slot at nationals you must earn qualifying points in your region in your respective age group.

Earn points toward a regional championship title by finishing in the top fifteen in your age group. We award points based on the type of race (XTERRA Point Series Race (XPS)or XTERRA Regional Championship Race (XRC) ) and where you placed in your age group.

Points are awarded to the top fifteen (15) finishers in each Age Group at each XAT race. You can earn more points at the XTERRA Regional Championship races because, generally, participation is higher and the courses are tougher and longer. If you race at more than one XRC race, only your best finish counts at full XRC points - any other XRC finishes earn points at the same rate as XTERRA Points Series (XPS) events.

We will determine your total points by using your best four races. Competitors are required to race in at least one event in their region, and must COUNT two events in their region.  Note: You don’t have to race in two, but you have to count two in your region.  Bottom line, to play the game (to qualify for nationals and win a regional championship) you have to race in at least one event in your region, and everything more than that is gravy and increases your chances of winning.

NOTICE: You may count only one XTERRA Regional Championship race at XRC points level.
