How It Works
WELCOME TO THE HEART OF OFF-ROAD TRIATHLON
Anyone can do our races. Moms, dads, CEOs, teachers, surfers, mountain bikers ... just about anyone with a passion for great sports in the outdoors. Competitors choose from two race formats.
1. XTERRA SPORT
.jpg) The half-distance races, called XTERRA Sport, offer newcomers a good introduction to off-road triathlon. The courses generally consist of a 500-meter swim, a 15-kilometer mountain bike, and 5-kilometer trail run. You may race as an individual or a team. XTERRA Sport races take place at the four XTERRA USA Championship Series races: XTERRA East, Mountain, West and Southeast, plus XTERRA Nevada in Lake Tahoe, NV.
2. XTERRA CHAMPIONSHIPS
The full-distance XTERRA race is generally comprised of a 1.5K swim, 30K mountain bike and a 10K trail run. You may race as an individual or in the GU Relay Team Challenge.
US Racing and National Championship
Athletes who wish to race in the XTERRA USA Championship Series for points toward an XTERRA regional title will race as an individual in these full-distance XTERRA races. The races are open to everyone, however, the USA Championship in Lake Tahoe and World Championship on Maui are open only to qualified competitors. (Age group athletes who are not US citizens can participate in US races, but are not eligible for Points or Points Series titles.)

XTERRA Global Tour
The tour includes stops in fourteen countries. The races are open to both pro and amateur competitors. Top-ranking amateurs are awarded an XTERRA title and entry to the XTERRA World Championship at the Makena Resort, Maui. Pros compete for prize purses.
