10th Running of XTERRA REAL Next Sunday
The mixed terrain of Granite Bay, CA provides the perfect layout to test athletes for the 10th Annual XTERRA Real on April 1st – and that’s no joke.
The race starts with a half-mile swim in the brisk waters of Folsom Lake. Then a quick transition into the 16-mile dual-lap bike course that truly takes advantage of all that Mother Nature has to offer. Features such as a twisted single track, sweeping meadow double track, rock gardens, mud pits, climbs, falls, and two massive sand pits, all contour the course perfectly. The final 3.5-mile run course presents a grand scenic view of Folsom Lake, but technical obstacles and harsh climbs will remind runners that they are competing in an extreme XTERRA event. Former XTERRA REAL champions Tim Helms (2009) and Phillip Glenn (2007) will be contending to redeem their titles once again. Other notables in the field include pro mountain biker, Kyle Stock, and top competitors David Cloninger, Richard Blanco, and XTERRA pro Damien Gonzalez. Meiling Yee and Janice Brod have both had podium finishes at REAL in the past and will shoot for the top spot next Sunday. Learn more and register at www.TBFRacing.com
