The 8th Annual XTERRA Deuces Wild is almost here!!  The mountains of Eastern Arizona provide the perfect backdrop for an XTERRA America Tour Race with its beautiful lakes, rugged trails, and cool summer temps. If you live anywhere hot, you'll want to come play in the mountains with us just to cool off!  Throughout the race, you'll be amused by the names that our staff have come up with for some of the sections - look out for the Eliminator!! For all you super hardcore folks, do the Double Dose by pairing XTERRA Four Corners on Saturday with our event on Sunday!

Fool Hollow Lake is surrounded by pine forests and is clear and cool.  Temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid-60s, so wetsuits will be encouraged!  A water start will get you going 800 meters along a triangular course and will end with a bevy of volunteers eager to help you strip off your wetsuit.  Just make sure to hang onto your shorts!

From transition, hop on your bike and prepare to ride the bike course designed with the help of XTERRA World Champ Jimmy Riccitello.  Jimmy says, "For those of you with designs on the XTERRA World Championship, this course is a must!"  You will get a grand tour of the protected forests around the lake, as well as through the burn area from the 2002 Rodeo-Chedeski fire. It'll be an exciting ride.  We know it looks scary, but think how much fun that hill will be to go down!

Finish off your race with a trail run around the lake, through the trees, across a dam (you may get wet!), and get that popsicle that's waiting for you on the other side of the finish line!  It's so peaceful up here that all you'll hear is the sound of your own breathing and that of the guy or gal on your heels.  This is where you'll need to watch out for the Eliminator, but don't worry, you'll get it out of the way early!  Check out the course map and see if you can figure out which hill it is!

Remember that all we want is for you to have a great time, so expect a race that will be top-notch all around, from the volunteers to the aid to the awards and more!!  100% of the proceeds from the race go to charity. A raffle will be held specifically for the XAT race, but make sure you are there Saturday afternoon and you'll also have a chance to score big in our huge raffle - we'll have over $30,000 in prizes to give away over the course of the weekend!!  And if you come early to watch on Saturday, consider volunteering and making the Saturday races even better for those participants.
