Four Going for 15, and 8 Who Were Here in '96

Shari CainSteve Tarpinian from New York, and Steve Fisher, Gerry Clark, and Joe Alueta from Maui have done (and finished) every XTERRA in Maui since the inaugural race in 1996.  If they can survive yet again on Sunday, they'll be in an exclusive club of those that have done all 15 XTERRA World Championships.

Meanwhile the 1999 women's XTERRA World Champion Shari Kain (pictured) along with her husband Pete are back in Maui 15 years after that first race in 1996, this time with a six-year-old and nine-year-old in tow.   They'll join the four above, along with Janet Higa-Miller and Ben Barreras on this year's start list as the "original eight" that raced in the inaugural XTERRA World Championship.
