Press and Media CenterNext Stop: SaipanThe next stop on the XTERRA World Tour is the magnificent Northern Mariana Islands with the ninth annual XTERRA Saipan Championship race slated for March 13.
The XTERRA Saipan Championship is part of a terrific block of events that create an ideal excuse to spend a month or more in the islands racing and training. The week before XTERRA is the Saipan Marathon, then training camps and clinics, then XTERRA Saipan, then the 21st annual Tagaman road triathlon (2k-60k-15k), and XTERRA Guam the weekend after that on March 27. The Pacific Islands Club Resort is an amazing place to set-up basecamp and provides special rates for participants starting at under $100. For pros, XTERRA dishes out $15,000 in prize money and Tagaman offers $8,000, plus the opportunity to win a return trip with airfare by winning the PIC Double (best combined time in the two races awarded to the top male and female finisher). Long-time XTERRA Pro Mike Vine will join Takahiro Ogasawara in conducting an XTERRA University Camp in the days leading up to the main event, and a diverse field of competitors from around the world (including a large contingent from Korea) are making the trip to paradise.
