Two Weeks to Valle de Bravo

The XTERRA Mexico Championship is the next stop on the XTERRA World Tour with the inaugural race in Valle de Bravo taking place on August 2.

Valle de Bravo ScenicThe race is located in a beautiful small town (pictured above) roughly two hours southwest of Mexico City in the central region of the country.

Some very fast American pros (Seth Wealing for the men and Rebecca Dussault for the women) are headed down to Mexico to challenge a strong local contingent that includes Olympians Francisco Serrano, Javier Rosas (also one of the organizers) and Fabiola Corona.  French stars Nico Lebrun and Alexandra Borrelly will also join in the fray.

The championship will provide XTERRA World Championship qualifying spots for amateurs and $15,000 in prize money for the pros.

“We are very excited for this race,” said event director Juan Carlos Vazquez.  “Athletes will certainly enjoy not just the challenge, but the beauty.  Located on the shore of Lake Avandaro, Valle de Bravo is one of the most breathtaking locations in all of Mexico.  The transition area is at club Izar - one of the nicest places near the lake all surrounded by mountains, and the route for both the bike and the run is spectacular."

There is video showcasing the area and the course on the race website at www.xterramexico.com.mx.
