Kahuna St. Nick's Ode to the Holidays XTERRA Style and the Basics of XTERRA Winter

THIS WEEK:  Our very own Kahuna St. Nick puts his annual spin on a seasonal gem, results from the last trail run race of ’07, the low-down on XTERRA Winter Worlds, and the XTERRA TV Holiday viewing schedule.

FIRST RACE IN ‘08:

1/12 – XTERRA Boney Mountain Trail Run (Thousand Oaks, CA)

‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE XTERRA:

Twas the night before XTERRA

and all over the World

Athletes dreamt of racing

Around Maui they twirled

They dreamed of 'The Plunge'

And going so fast

There was a racer ahead

And waved as they passed

When out on the lawn

There arose such a clatter

They jumped off their trainers

To see what was the matter

Old Kahuna was there

With his razor sharp wit

Saying “get to work children

You must keep fit”

“Each year you get faster,

Race harder and quick

Be you a stud male

Or a beautiful chick”

“Somehow my dear racers

Though faster you run

All of you are happy

All of us have fun”

“Live More, Not less”

Was the old man's advice

“We’re not on earth long

So of life, take a slice”

“Did Conrad give up

When his luck was so low?

He kept a smile on his face

Should I Quit?  Hell no”

“That kind of spirit is what

Makes you all unique

It is you that created

The XTERRA mystique”

So we say to you all

With thanks from our heart

Our gratitude so high

It is off of the chart

“Next year will be bigger

Than ever before

New countries, new places

So get out the door”

“South Africa, South America

New Zealand, Australia, Japan

US and Europe

Make some if you can”

“Cause wherever you go

There is someone who

Lives Life More with XTERRA

And wants to meet YOU”

He slowed down a bit

Took a swig from his beer

Hitched up his belt

And tugged on his ear

With a flash and a bang

The old man was gone

But his voice was still clear

His message dead-on

“Merry Christmas to all

And to all a good night

We’ll see you next year

For some jolly good fights”

And with that the Winter

Returned to most all

But everyone knew

2008 WILL BE A BALL! THE LAST TRAIL RUN OF 2007:  The 2007 XTERRA Trail Run Series finished with a bang as a maxed-out field took on the challenging 15K and 5K XTERRA Crystal Cove Trail Runs in Southern California this past Sunday.

Ironman legend Heather Fuhr topped the women's field in the 15K with a time of 1:02:57 and Jon Clark won the overall in 59:53.

In the 5K the top man and woman were separated by a mere 50 seconds. Myra Bregman, 42, from Dana Point, California finished fourth overall with a time of 29:35 and finishing three spots ahead was 44-year-old Scott Pickell with the fastest time of the day at 28:45.
