National Champions Crowned

INCLINE VILLAGE, NV - Eneko Llanos from Spain edged Conrad Stoltz from South Africa by one minute to win his second straight in Nevada while Jamie Whitmore from Elk Grove, California topped rival Melanie McQuaid from Canada by just 35 seconds to win her fourth straight Nissan Xterra USA Championship.

Of national interest, America's greatest female triathlete of all-time - Barb Lindquist - was impressive in her last competition on U.S. soil, which was also her first-ever XTERRA.

The course, arguably the toughest and most scenic in the 50-race Nissan Xterra USA Championship Series, combined a 1.5-kilometer (1-mile) swim in Lake Tahoe (60 degrees) with a 35-kilometer (22-mile) mountain bike ride that climbed 2,500 feet along the Sierra Nevada mountain range, and a 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) trail run.
