Powless Wins Third Straight

Neilson PowlessFifteen-year-old phenom Neilson Powless - a sophomore at Roseville High School in northern Californa - won the overall at the XTERRA Lake Tahoe off-road tri in Incline Village, Nevada on Saturday.  It was his third overall win in as many chances, having also captured the XTERRA Tahoe City and XTERRA Portland titles earlier in the year.

The reigning 15-19 division XTERRA USA Champion came out of the water with XTERRA Hall of Famer Scott Schumaker (who was one of the leaders out of the swim at the inaugural XTERRA back in 1996 - the same year Neilson was born!), had the second-best bike split behind only XTERRA Pro Damian Gonzalez, and the fastest run split.

"Dude! Conrad better watch out. Way impressed with Neilson," said Schumaker, who finished 5th overall and won the 40-44 division.

"I love racing, especially XTERRA," said Powless. "Every year I look forward to the first XTERRA race of the season.  I love how friendly everyone is in the XTERRA scene, from the volunteers to the organizers its a great environment.  So far my race season has been incredible; my first overall win this season gave me such an amazing feeling.  I'm working my butt off so that when I get to Worlds, I'll be able to crush it!"
