Alabama Series Champions Crowned

The XTERRA Oak Mountain Trail Runs on May 20 was the final event of the 2011-12 season for the XTERRA Alabama Trail Run Series.

Eighteen runners scored enough points to earn an age-group championship. All of those runners will receive a free entry to represent Alabama at the 2012 XTERRA Trail Run National Championship at Snowbasin Resort, Ogden, Utah, in September.

Special recognition should go to Elena Linn (pictured), who won the female 25-29 age group. She went undefeated during the season, winning all four races. Making it more impressive, she was the first overall finisher (including the men) at two different races during the season.

Repeat Alabama champions from 2011 are Katherine Morgan (female 35-39) and Matt Carter (male 35-39). Here is the complete list:
