South Carolina Readies for Series Finale

Table Rock Trail Run on Aug. 20 will feature 15K and 6K courses

Runners in need of a challenging way to end the summer can enter the inaugural XTERRA Table Rock Trail Run on Saturday, Aug. 20, at Pickens, S.C.

The Table Rock Trail Run will offer a unique 15-kilometer course at Table Rock State Park. The course will traverse up, down and around Table Rock Mountain, which reaches elevations of more than 3,000 feet.

The event will also feature a less-arduous - but still thrilling -- 6-kilometer course. As race director Victoria Seahorn put it: "Take the challenge and be the first to complete South Carolina's toughest 15K! And, for those that are new to trail running, join us for  the greatest 6K course for beginners!"

The Table Rock Trail Run will also serve as the season finale for the 2011 XTERRA South Carolina Series, so it will be the last chance for runners to earn points toward the final series standings. The age group winners from the final series standings will receive a free entry to the 2011 XTERRA Trail Run National Championship at Ogden, Utah, on Sept. 25.

South Carolina is one of 12 regions across the United States that is hosting an XTERRA Trail Run Series in 2011. The others are Alabama, Arizona, Southern California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, Philadelphia, Pocono and Texas.
