XTERRA Georgia Series Has A Trail For Every Runner

Courses in 2010-11 season will range from 5K to 42K

XTERRA Trail Runs are apparently peachy in the Peach State.

The XTERRA Georgia Trail Run Series, which has become one of the most popular trail run series in the country, will be back for more during the 2010-11 season.

"We've got some of the best trails out here," series director Tim Schroer said. "The Georgia runners loved it last year and so we're going back to those same trails."

The Georgia Series will feature six races during the 2010-11 season, and each race will offer a unique challenge. The races will range from a relatively-easy 5-kilometer course at the XTERRA Fall Fitness Trail Run in October, to an experts-only 42-kilometer course at the XTERRA Thrill in the Hills Trail Run in February 2011.

The opening race in the series is the XTERRA Harbins Park Trail Run at Dacula, Ga., on Sept. 25. The second race will be a week later - the Fall Fitness Trail Run at Buford, Ga., on Oct. 2. Runners can register for either or both races at www.xterratrailrun.com or www.dirtyspokes.com. Runners who register early will receive a long-sleeve dri-fit race shirt, while supplies last.

The 2009-10 Georgia Trail Run Series drew more than 1,000 total runners and increased numbers are expected this season. Cumulative point totals will be tallied throughout the season, and the winner of each age group at the end of the season will receive free entry to the 2011 XTERRA Trail Run National Championship.

Georgia is one of 11 regions set to host XTERRA trail run races during the 2010-11 season. The others are Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Long Island, North Carolina, Ohio, Philadelphia, Southern California and Texas.
