XTERRA North Carolina Series on to Charlotte for Race No. 3

XTERRA Colonel Francis Trail Run set for Aug. 22

Aug. 11, 2010 - The 2010 XTERRA North Carolina Trail Run Series will run to Charlotte for its next race, the XTERRA Colonel Francis Trail Run on Aug. 22.

Fitting for a race in "The Queen City," a regal 10-kilometer course at Charlotte's Colonel Francis Beatty Park Trails will provide the challenge for more than 100 runners of all ages.

The 10-kilometer course will feature a variety of looks, including an elevation climb to more than 730 feet. "The first portion is rooty, and then you go into a tight single track on the way up," race director Tim Schroer said. "The last part of it is real smooth, so it has a little bit of everything."

It will be the third of four races in the 2010 XTERRA North Carolina Trail Run Series. The fourth event will be held in Davidson, N.C., on Sept. 5.

Although it is called the North Carolina Series, the races are open to runners from any state. Runners from Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, New York, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia have participated in the previous races in the series.

Entries for both upcoming North Carolina races are still being accepted. For more information visit www.xterratrailrun.com or www.dirtyspokes.com.
